Our skilled staff of public relations/media professionals offers a variety of services designed to promote the good work of the University's students, faculty and staff throughout the region, across the state and beyond.
With 125 years of combined experience, our six staff members have the necessary experience to help the University community with:
News releases for distribution to print and broadcast media in Southern Illinois, statewide, nationally and to targeted publications serving specific industries and fields.
- Copy for newsletters, brochures, advertisements and catalogs.
- Responding to media requests for interviews with faculty, students and staff.
- News conference/event planning, staging and coordination.
- The University's public events calendar.
- SIUC's and system-wide electronic newsletters.
- Web site content for departments, schools and colleges.
- Content for other publications, such as annual reports.
- Speech writing.

Chelsea Sturgeon – joined our staff in 2005.
Responsible for updating and maintaining our news Web site, and assisting with the editing of news releases. Handles distribution of news releases to the news media and others via e-mail listservs, and is responsible for managing those e-mail lists. Maintains and updates the University’s electronic public events calendar.
