Horticulture Research:

Below, you will find information concerning the Plant, Soil, and Ag Systems Department's important research being conducted  in the area of Fruits and Vegetables.  The various areas of research in this field are listed below the name of the professor conducting the research.

A bullet. Dr. John Preece - Horticulture,Propagation, and Biotechnology
-- Shoot Forcing: Sections are cut from large branches and placed horizontally on flats filled with perlite, producing softwood shoots for cuttings or tissue culture. -- Woody plant tissue culture: Micro-propogation protocols for adult Eastern Black Walnut (Juglans nigra), Oakleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia) and Hibiscus. -- Seed dormancy of White Ash: Study of various techniques to overcome dormancy of seeds of green and white ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanicu and americuna).
