Research:
The
Plant Pathology research program focuses on applied aspects of biology and
management for plant diseases, particularly those of soybean and corn.
Current areas of emphasis on soybean include sudden death syndrome (SDS),
charcoal rot, and virus diseases, particularly bean pod mottle virus, and
its relationship to delayed maturity (a.k.a. "green stem") in soybean. The
primary focus on corn deals with aflatoxin management and the identification
and characterization of aflatoxin resistance.
