Lindell Sturgis Award
The family of the late Lindell W. Sturgis, former member and chair of the SIU Board of
Trustees,
established an endowed fund in 1979 to support recognition of public service efforts by SIUC
faculty and staff members. Annually the Lindell W. Sturgis Memorial Public Service Award is
presented to an employee as recognition of his or her contributions to the community, area, state,
or nation, based upon activities unrelated to his or her job responsibilities. This prestigious
award, including a cash gift, special plaque, and reserved parking for a year is presented by the Board of Trustees. A call for nominations for the award is sent to all university personnel early in the spring term.
Nominations must be submitted to the chair of the selection committee by the posted deadline.
