Meetings!

General Board meetings will take place every other week (on Wednesdays) at 6:00 p.m. in the Dean's Conference Room (E0101). From time to time free refreshments will be served, so feel free to bring friends.

Executive Board meetings will take place every Tuesday. Exec-Meeting location will usually take place in the room across from the M.E.P. lab at 5:00 p.m. sharp!

I.                   Updates

a)     Polo Design (Brad)

                                                               i.      We want to know if you have any ideas for the polo design. Please contact Brad or Joe.

 

b)     Website (looking for help) (Harrison)

                                                               i.      Our current website is in need of some serious help.  Our current layout is not our main concern, but what we need are volunteers who can either; help to post weekly updates and pictures, or volunteers who know how to create a new up-to-date website to be launched for next semester. II.                Old Business

a)     Community Service (Joe)

                                                               i.      Adopt a Spot (DC)  NSBE has adopted a spot where we will keep it clean and beautify Southern Illinois. (This Saturday 8:00am / We will meet at the Engineering Building

 

                                                             ii.      Basketball Game concession stand--last concession stand. This is a wonderful opportunity to earn points for nationals. The game starts at 2 but we need 12 volunteers to come at least at twelve. Contact  Joe or Donald

 

                                                            iii.      Hotdog sale – We are thinking of running one more hotdog sale for next week. ( We need volunteers for 11pm)

 

                                                           iv.      The Coloring Contest (DC)

 

The coloring contest was held at Lewis School and it was a nice turnout. 

 

                                                             v.      NSBE Social  (Aaron)

Are you interested in a cookout or maybe a game of spades? Please share your ideas.

III.      Old Business

 

                               i.    Volunteer at the Carbondale Elementary School (DC)

We have the chance to volunteer, to mentor and help our children our community to grow. Background checks included

 

  

                              ii.       NSBE WEEK   (Donald)                                              

  Active members- Support –Growth

 We have gotten big and we want to know if you are interested in                                           joining a committee to help get this idea off the ground.

                        

iii.            E- Board Elections

       Senator, Vice President, Community Service Chair whatever qualities you possess now is the time to start thinking if there is anything you want to do.

                  Joint Discussion

 

i.  Black History Month (Joe)

 We need two comities to come together with ideas for Black History Month.

 

 

 

V.                         Comments & Suggestions

   

i.                            Assistance for Nationals  (Donald)

 The cost for nationals is $ 95.00 and after January the price will go up to               $135.00. (Must be a paid member regional + national See DC) If you need assistance    The McNair Scholars program is giving out grants. Requirements are:  2.7 grade point average, a letter of recommendation from a faculty member and submit a one page paper on your experience regarding the trip.  Option 2: Become a Senator (E- Board Elections) The cost is $ 75.00 

     

     

 

Important: Come out and celebrate the alumni Joan Higginbotham before she takes off into space. She is a member of SWE and NSBE / December 7th 2006 7:00

Our General meetings are on Wednesdays at 6:00pm in the Dean Conference Room. The next meeting will be 2-7-07 and there will be more meetings every other week after that unless stated otherwise.
