Tim Fink serves as Director of the Marjorie Lawrence Opera Theater and head of the opera/music theater area. At SIUC, his teaching duties include Lyric Theater Ensemble, Opera History, Musical Theater History, Music Productions, Opera Workshop, and Music Theater Workshop.

Working mostly as a director of lyric theater, professional credits include directing and music directing at Bigfork Summer Playhouse, St. Michael's Playhouse, Muddy River Opera Company, University of Nevada at Las Vegas, and Western Illinois University. In addition to directing, Tim has been an Artistic Director of two professional summer stock theaters, the Clinton Area Showboat Theater and presently McLeod Summer Playhouse.

Tim's recent MLOT directing credits include Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Puccini's La Rondine, Rodgers and Hammerstein's A Grand Night for Singing, HMS Pinafore, and Starting Here, Starting Now. Other directing credits include Candide, The Magic Flue, Sweeney Todd, Jesus Christ Superstar, Most Happy Fella, Baby, She Loves Me, and Noises Off. In addition, Tim also directs Opera on Wheels, a touring MLOT outreach program partially funded by the Illinois Arts Council, and once featured on ABC Evening News with Peter Jennings.

When time and energy permit, Tim continues to perform, most recently with several of his colleagues in Side By Side By Sondheim for the Mu Phi Epsilon International Congress. Some of his favorite roles include Michael in I Do, I Do (which he performed with his wife Lori), Smudge in Forever Plaid, Curly in Oklahoma, and Max in Lend Me a Tenor. Other credits include Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus with Renton Civic Opera, and Louis de Torres in Christopher Columbus and Cascade in The Merry Widow with Tacoma Opera.

Originally from Washington state, Tim received his BA in Education from Pacific Lutheran University, an MM in Vocal Performance from The University of Arizona, and an MFA in Theater with an emphasis in directing from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Tim and his wife have two children, Aaron (12) and Emily (9).
