Clarence Carter is a Bachelor of Music graduate of Xavier University, New Orleans, holds a Master of Music degree in performance from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. While at SIU he studied performance under the late, great Metropolitan Opera soprano Marjorie Lawrence. He began his European career in 1982 in Luzern, Switzerland at the State Theater where he sang in all major productions including opera, operetta, musical and solo concert. In 1984, he appeared as a soloist in the International Music Festival of Luzern.

 

In 1988, he joined the world-famous production of Cats in Hamburg, Germany. He went on to perform The Phantom of the Opera in 1990 under the direction of Hal Prince where he was seen in the role of Ubaldo Piangi. It was during this time in Germany that he began his private teaching career and his association with the State School of Music and Drama.

 

Mr. Carter is currently an Assistant Professor of Voice in the School of Music and an adjunct member of the voice faculty at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He continues to perform both nationally and internationally.
