Current Civil Service Vacancies

This is a description of the civil service vacancies at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for the week of

February 6, 2012.

Applicants must apply in person, provide all qualifying credentials: such as official transcripts, certifications, licenses and DD 214, and make appointments for testing for current vacancies no later than 12:00 noon, Thursday, February 9, 2012.

Office hours are: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
No appointment is necessary.

Location:  803 S. Elizabeth Street, Carbondale, IL 62901

The interviewing hours for employment counselors are:
Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

All Civil Service examinations given under the State Universities Civil Service System shall be open to all

applicants who are citizens of or residents in the State of Illinois, and who can qualify by experience and training for the position for which application is made.

Physician’s Assistant in Medicine                                                           Minimum Salary:   $4432.00 per month

                                                                                                                   Maximum Salary:  $6648.00 per month

Department:  Student Health Services 

Note:  This position is a 10 month flex-year working from 8/1-5/31 and is security-sensitive.  Before any offer of employment is made, the University will conduct a pre-employment background investigation, which includes a criminal background check.

1.    Possession of a valid certification/licensure as a current Physician’s Assistant in Medicine issued by the Illinois  

         Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.

 

Nurse Practitioner                                                                                    Minimum Salary:   $4432.00 per month

                                                                                                                   Maximum Salary:  $6648.00 per month

Department:  Student Health Services

1.    Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse - Nurse Practitioner

       225 ILCS 65 et seq.

       An applicant for licensure to practice as an advanced practice nurse must:

• Hold a current license to practice as a registered professional nurse under this Act.

• Have successfully completed requirements to practice as, and holds a current, national certification as nurse practitioner from the appropriate national certifying body as determined by rule of the Department.

• Have obtained a graduate degree appropriate for national certification in a clinical advanced practice nursing specialty or a graduate degree or post-master’s certificate from a graduate level program in a clinical advanced practice nursing specialty.

 

Dishroom Supervisor                                                                                    Salary:  $12.82 per hour

Department:  University Housing – Residence Hall Dining

Note:  This position is subject to seasonal layoffs.

1.    Two years of clean-up experience in a food service unit in an institutional or comparable sized food service facility.

Elizabeth, Carbondale. Vacancies in these classifications are not advertised. Only those candidates already on the employment register may be considered if there is a vacancy.
