Current Civil Service Vacancies

This is a description of the civil service vacancies at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for the week of November 23, 2009

Applicants must apply in person, provide all qualifying credentials: such as official transcripts, certifications, licenses and DD 214, and make appointments for testing for current vacancies no later than 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November 25, 2009.

Office hours are: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
No appointment is necessary.

The interviewing hours for employment counselors are:
Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

All Civil Service examinations given under the State Universities Civil Service System shall be open to all applicants who are citizens of or residents in the State of Illinois, and who can qualify by experience and training for the position for which application is made.

The University will be closed November 26 & 27, 2009 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

There are no Civil Service vacancies this week.

There are also a number of civil service classifications which are referred to as continuous post. The listing of continuous post classifications is available at Employment Services, 803 S. Elizabeth, Carbondale. Vacancies in these classifications are not advertised. Only those candidates already on the employment register may be considered if there is a vacancy. Interested applicants should review this list and apply for testing. Persons are requested to bring copies of their college transcripts and/or veteran's discharge papers (DD 214), if applicable.
