The GPSC has traditionally been a tightly knit group. We interact on a first name basis and attempt to make our meetings as comfortable and relaxed as possible. This does not mean, however, that we do not weigh and decide important matters; in fact, the opposite is true. We are called on to give a collective voice to the opinions of all graduate and professional students. This is a responsibility which is taken most seriously by our members. More importantly, though, is the responsibility given to all our representatives by virtue of their position to actively participate in GPSC's affairs. From accepting committee positions to sponsoring resolutions, the business of the GPSC comes from you - the representatives.
In this representative's handbook you will find everything you need to get started as a GPSC representative. Among the pieces of information are guidelines to parliamentary procedure (by which we run our meetings), a copy of our constitution, copies of each of our current request forms for funding, a brief informational flier and myriad other pieces of information which you will find helpful during your tenure on the GPSC.
If you have further questions which this material does not cover, please feel free to contact the President or Vice-Presidents of the GPSC at your convenience. Again, welcome to the GPSC, and here's to a productive and interesting year.
Sincerely,
Steven Middleton, President
