INTEREST SURVEY EXPLANATION  

Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) has identified an opportunity to deliver the Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Resource Management (TRM) at Parkland College campus. The degree program would serve place bound students in the Champaign area. The purpose of this interest survey is to measure the level of student interest in order to determine the viability of pursuing such a venture.

The Degree  

The Technical Resource Management (TRM) degree is specifically designed for students who have earned or will earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or those students completing a two-year occupational program equivalent to an AAS. The AAS is considered the first half of the 120-hour Bachelor’s degree. The remaining 60 semester hours includes the 36-hour TRM major and a minimum of 24 hours of University Core Curriculum (general education) and/or approved electives.

SIUC proposes to deliver the 36 semester-hour TRM major at Parkland College over 4 16-week semesters. Each semester will include three, 3 semester-hour courses. Courses will be taught via a combination of methods, including face-to-face, video conferencing, and/or on-line delivery. Students who enroll full-time (9 semester-hours) each of four consecutive semesters will be able to complete the 36 semester-hour major in 21 months. Currently, SIUC’s off-campus tuition is $225.00 per semester-hour. All SIUC courses are eligible for tuition assistance and the Veterans Administration educational benefits. Students who wish to apply for PELL Grants or Student Loans may do so with the assistance of the TRM advisor.
