GRADUATION 2007: June 15th

Students are allowed to participate in two graduation ceremonies. You can join us at Mt SAC on June 15, 2007 at 6:30PM Hilmer Stadium. You may also attend the graduation ceremonies at Carbondale in spring, summer, or fall. The main campus handles coordination for the Carbondale ceremonies. When you fill out your graduation form you need to mark the box that indicates your intent to travel to Carbondale for graduation.

You need a cap and gown in SIU colors in order to participate in the ceremony. You must order your items from Jostens. Their phone contact is 800.854.7464, ext 5014. You must tell them you are a Southern Illinois University – San Diego student. Do not confuse them by mentioning Mt SAC – we are under the contract order for San Diego.

Cost: Cap, gown and tassel – [order the orange tassel] is $22.53, shipping is $9.95, Honors Stole is $10.58, overnight shipping is an additional $50. You must place your order by April 3 to get your items in time. You will need to give them your credit card information by phone.

If you qualify for honors recognition, you may wish to order honors stole from Jostens. Photos of the honors stoles worn by prior graduates can be found on the web site under Graduation Photos.

Qualifying criteria is outlined in the SIU catalog. Briefly, you need a 3.900 or higher cumulative GPA to be recognized for summa cum laude, 3.750-3.899 is magna cum laude, 3.500-3.749 is cum laude.

An informal reception is held in 28B-103 for all graduates and their guests. Alumni are invited to the graduation festivities.
