Fire Service Management Visiting Professor Information Greetings! I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and thank you for being part of the SIUC team as we partner together to offer this exceptional program to exceptional people: firefighters serving their local communities. For directions to the East St. Louis Higher Education Center , please click here. (NOTE: On weekends, you may park in any of the parking lots. The first lot that you encounter when you enter from 8 th Street is located directly across the street from the entrance to Building C where your classroom is located.) Classes are normally held in Building C, Room C186, on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. with a lunch break from 11:50 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (This classroom is never locked.) If you will need audio-visual equipment or wish to utilize a computer lab during your class, please let me know at least 3 weeks in advance and I will be happy to make the appropriate arrangements. If, during your time on our campus, you encounter a problem or need assistance, campus police are available to assist you 24 hours a day. They can be reached at the SIU Police Department located in Building C (the same building where your classroom is located), by dialing 8717 on a campus phone, or by calling the dispatch center at 618-650-3324. If you have any information/resources that you would like to post on our website for the students to view, please let me know. As noted in the SIUC “Faculty Guide”, please provide the Off-Campus Academic Programs (OCAP) office with a copy of the current syllabus for each course you teach 8 weeks prior to teaching the course. If you wish copies of exams to be duplicated, those need to be submitted along with your syllabus. Syllabus and exams can be sent as email attachments to Betty Bishop (bbishop@siu.edu ) or they can be mailed to Betty for reproduction. The vita, syllabus, and exams will be copied on campus and shipped to our campus to arrive no later than three weeks prior to the first teaching weekend. Because PowerPoint presentations will no longerbe copied, you may email me your PowerPoint presentation; I will, in turn, email it to our FSM students. If I can be of further assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. Again, welcome. We hope your experience teaching in the SIUC Fire Service Management Program will be a pleasant one and that you enjoy your visits to the East St. Louis area. We look forward to working with you. Sincerely, Kathleen Richey
