POSITION DESCRIPTION (Visiting Assistant Instructor)

Visiting Assistant Instructor Automotive Technology, Office of Off-Campus Academic Programs, College of Applied Sciences and Arts, Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Organizational Relationship

The individual in this position reports directly to the Director of College of Applied Sciences and Art’s Office of Off-Campus Academic Programs

Function

The person in this position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate research courses in Alternative Fuels, Applications of Technical Information, Drivability & Emissions, Financial Management, Fixed Operations, Network Systems, Vehicle Stability and NVH Warranty Administration . These are term appointments to teach undergraduate course(s) that are taught each semester at off-campus location(s).

Responsibilities

1. To travel to specified location(s) and to teach assigned course(s).
   
2. To provide the Office of Off-Campus Academic Programs with a current vitae and appropriate course syllabus six weeks prior to the first assignment.
   
3. To provide appropriate personnel at the off-campus site with course syllabus, first reading assignment, and any required course handouts at least three weeks in advance of assignment.
   
4. To provide grades within specified deadlines.
   
5. To maintain contact with OCAP for student inquiries and grading requirements for up to 12 months from last scheduled class meeting date.
   
6. To become familiar with and adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the current OCAP Faculty Guide.
   
7. To engage in other assignments as determined by the Director of Office of Off-Campus Academic Programs.
   
8. To be responsible to and comply with all University and College policies and procedures.
