Dear Professor:

Welcome to the SIUC Off-Campus location at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. This is some information concerning your, teaching assignment. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to make reservations for you; therefore, the telephone numbers to the hotels in the area as follows:

• Bethesda Court Hotel (301) 656-2100 ($129.00 plus tax and $8.50 parking per day)
  Pooks Hill Marriott (301) 897-9400 ($150.00 plus tax with free parking)
  The American Inn (301) 656-9300 ($89.00 plus tax with free limited parking)
  Four Points Sheraton (301) 654-1000 ($168.00 plus tax)

Each hotel is close to our location and has equivalent rates for the Bethesda area. The tax rate is 12%.

For your convenience, the directions to the National Naval Medical Center and your classroom are as follows:

Enter the National Naval Medical Center across from the Metro stop ( South Road). After passing through the checkpoint, keep straight to the front of the hospital (the tall tower building) on your right. Parking is allowed in any of the unmarked spaces in the front of the building or, if you prefer, park on the parking lot to your right. Upon entering the building, you will be on the 2 nd floor. Take any of the elevators to either the third floor (Dental Room “B”) or to the fifth floor (Room 5103). A communication identifying your specific room will be forthcoming to you by regular mail and email.

I will be there on the first weekend between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. Please allow a few minutes for me to make some important announcements and instructions to the class.

There are two class monitors for each classroom. It is their responsibility to insure that the classroom is unlocked, secured, and cleaned-up each day and to provide any assistance that you may need. Ask them to help you! The SIUC office has classroom equipment, if needed; please let us know a week in advance for any equipment that you may need. However, the National Naval Medical Center has equipment in each classroom that we are allowed to utilize.
