Letter of Appreciation

The following is excerpted from a letter written to us on August 5 ,2000 by Professors Paul Lovejoy of York University, Toronto, Canada and Carolyn Brown of Rutgers: The State University of New Jersey, USA:

"We would like to thank the AFRICANA RESEARCH CENTRE for her crucial role in organizing and managing the conference, “Repercussions of the Atlantic Slave Trade: The Bight of Biafra and the African Diaspora”, 10-14 July 2000. Most especially we would like to thank Anayo Enechukwu for his tireless efforts in organizing the conference. We applaud your handling of the grant from the Ford Foundation, West Africa that enabled so many Nigerian scholars and postgraduate students to participate in the conference…. We again applaud your young organization for taking on such a difficult task and accomplishing it so successfully. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the future."

Anayo Enechukwu: A Referee’s View

I have known Anayo Enechukwu for over ten years now as he comes from the same Nkanu Lacal Government Area with me. During this period, I have carefully watched him. His is very much interested in literary matters and has conducted research works on a number of subjects in our area. He is a profuse writer and has written a number of articles on various topics and books based on his research works. I have in my possession three of his books each of which I found to be very good as he exhibited much scholarship in them. I am aware that at the moment, he is conducting a research on the events leading to the creation of Enugu State of Nigeria.
Finally, Anayo Enechukwu is a hardworking honest and courteous young man. I am satisfied that he is capable of handling any research work given to him. Accordingly, I recommend him as a fit and proper person for a place in your collaborative works.
