Assistant Director for Institutional Advancement (Compliance Officer)

Position: SIUC invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director for Institutional Advancement who will serve as Compliance Officer to direct the Business Practices and Compliance Program and coordinate tax research for the Southern Illinois University Foundation. The Compliance Officer will have the tasks of keeping the Foundation's and the Division's policies, providing tax research and perform fiduciary reviews of risk management and state registrations. The Compliance Office must formulate policies and procedures, providing opinions on tax issues, and developing an implementation plan for changes. The successful candidate will be a member of the financial services staff and will report to the Director for Institutional Advancement (Treasurer). The candidate will provide technical support to the Foundation staff in the areas of tax and compliance.

Qualifications: Candidates should have an in-depth knowledge of current federal, state and local tax laws and best business practices. Candidates must also have the ability to research tax cases. A bachelor of science degree in business related field and three years of professional experience in a tax or compliance department or related field or a Masters in Accountancy, MBA or JD degree with one  year professional experience in a tax or compliance department or related field.

The University: Southern Illinois University Carbondale, located in scenic southern Illinois, approximately 100 miles southeast of St. Louis and 350 miles south of Chicago, is a comprehensive university with schools of medicine and law and has Carnegie Foundation Doctoral/Research University-Extensive status.

Salary: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, excellent fringe benefits package.
