Associate Director for Institutional Advancement (Corporate Foundation Giving)

Position: Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Director for Institutional Advancement who will serve as Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations to coordinate multiple fundraising activities of the University. The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will manage an assignment of donor prospects, engaging in personal cultivation and solicitation for the University. Some travel and weekend work will be necessary to fulfill the tasks. The successful candidate will be a member of the University development staff and will report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement/Executive Director of Development. The candidate will work closely with faculty and staff to determine and develop strategies to solicit support for key University priorities.

Qualifications: Candidates should have a broad knowledge of fundraising concepts and strategies necessary to cultivate and secure significant annual and major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations; excellent organizational, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; and proven ability to work with volunteers and not-for-profit organizations. A master's degree is preferred; a bachelor's degree is required. A minimum of three years' successful experience in fundraising or a related field, such as marketing or sales, is required. Evidence of successful mid-management experience is desirable as is experience in both writing and presenting proposals.

The University: Southern Illinois University Carbondale, located in scenic southern Illinois, approximately 100 miles southeast of St. Louis and 350 miles south of Chicago, is a comprehensive university with schools of medicine and law and has Carnegie Foundation Doctoral/Research University-Extensive status.

Salary: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, excellent fringe benefits package.
