POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant Scientist (Neuroscience/Endocrinology)
Department of Physiology


A one hundred percent (100%) time term position, beginning September 15, 2008 and continuing through March 31, 2009. Continued appointment is dependent on periodic review of performance and extension of appointment is subject to availability of funds.

Title of Position: Assistant Scientist (Neuroscience/Endocrinology) in the Department of Physiology.

Description of Duties and Position: To plan and perform necessary experiments, prepare manuscripts and present the results to the scientific community. Scientific projects will relate to steroid hormone regulation of prolactin secretion and related cellular and molecular regulatory mechanisms in hypothalamic neurons. Duties include: 1) independently performing research projects, 2) preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journal and preparing other relevant documents, 3) developing new techniques relevant to research project, 4) interacting with students and other laboratory personnel, 5) contributing as co-investigator on research grant applications, 6) participating in appropriate professional activities and 7) contributing to the teaching of courses for graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications are Ph.D. in physiology and research experience in neuroscience and/or endocrinology. Preference will be given to those with experience related to steroid hormone actions within the central nervous system.

Salary: Depends on level of experience. Minimum salary is $2,113.00 per month.
