Researcher III (Conservation Opportunity Area Coordinator)

Title: Researcher III 

Position: The Department of Zoology is seeking an experienced conservation biologist/ natural resource manager to assist with a planning project to coordinate and organize Conservation Opportunity Areas in Illinois and provide input to the state in support of the Illinois Wildlife Action Plan.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will have at least a completed MS degree in ecology, biology, or a related field and experience working with private and government conservation entities. Preference will be given to applicants with hands-on experience working with private groups and both state and federal organizations, and demonstrated success obtaining funding for and implementing conservation projects. Preference will also be given to applicants with skills in GIS, database creation and management, statistical analyses, and watershed hydrology.

Responsibilities: Direct the coordination and organization of Conservation Opportunity Areas in Illinois and provide guidance on refinement and revision of Illinois' Wildlife Action Plan. This position will require working closely with the IDNR, Nature Conservancy, and other conservation organizations in Illinois, and involves extensive travel.

Salary: Salary will range from $2,917 - $4,166 per month, commensurate with experience, plus benefits.

Effective Date of Employment: Sept. 15, 2008 - Sept. 14, 2011 (three year position)
