POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Instructor (Teacher Education) (Variable-time)
College of Education and Human Services - Student Services

Description: Instructor position(s), variable percent of time, requiring specialization in supervision of teacher education students in the public school setting and interest in teaching teacher education related course(s). The positions are for supervising preservice teacher education students in public schools, grades K-12 located in southern Illinois and teaching teacher education related course on campus.

Responsibilities: The following preservice teacher education (supervision and teaching) related responsibilities are conducted through the College of Education and Human Services, Office of Student Services. Individuals could perform all or some of the responsibilities below.

  1. Confirm placement of students assigned to designated Professional Development Center and other possible school sites.
  2. Provide direct supervision of students during their pre-professional and/or professional clinical semesters.
  3. Serve as a liaison between the COEHS and the participating school districts.
  4. Teach at least one course attached to early field experience or other requirement for teacher education oriented students.
  5. Learn the LiveText web application, given training and assistance, and use it to review student work.

Requirements:

  1. The position requires a background/experience in instructional supervision or field-based clinical supervision.
  2. Applicants who have completed a Master's Degree with significant experience in instructional supervision or field-based clinical supervision will be considered. Persons holding doctorates with specialty in instructional supervision and/or teacher education are preferred.
  3. Successful teaching experience at the elementary, middle and /or secondary level is required.
  4. Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating the following:

Appointment and Salary: Each position will be a term appointment for Fall 2008 and/or Spring 2009. Salary is negotiable based upon qualifications and experience.
