Assistant/Associate Professor

General Information:  The Southern Illinois University Carbondale, College of Business is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB, visit the website at http://www.aacsb.edu) at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We have approximately 1,500 undergraduate and 250 graduate students. We offer Bachelor of Science undergraduate academic degree programs in our departments of Management, Finance, Marketing and the School of Accountancy.  We offer graduate academic degrees in Master of Business Administration, Master of Accountancy, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration. The University is located in Carbondale, Illinois, approximately one hundred miles southeast of St. Louis, Missouri. We have an average enrollment of approximately 20,000 students.

Position:  Management Department, Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor

Qualifications:  We seek a candidate who holds an earned doctorate in management or a related discipline at effective date of employment, 8/16/09. Candidates are expected to complete all requirements for the Ph.D. before the date of appointment. If all requirements have not been completed, a one-year term appointment at the rank of instructor will be offered. Documented research interest and teaching experience in organization studies and strategic management are required. Teaching experience in entrepreneurship or supply chain management is desirable, though not required. The successful candidate will show evidence of contribution to scholarly research and teaching excellence. To be considered for associate professor rank, the candidate must have an established research record with publications in or similar in rank to: Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review or specialty journals like Entrepreneurship, Theory & Practice, Journal of International Business Studies, or Journal of Operations.

Duties:

• Research -- Develop an integrated program of research leading to presentations at conferences and publication in high quality journals. Become actively involved in the department's doctoral program by working with and mentoring doctoral students.
• Teaching -- Teach strategic management at the undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral levels. Current teaching load is six hours per semester, with an active research program.
• Service -- Participate in a collegial department focused on the development of high-quality research and effective instruction. For junior faculty, service loads are minimized in order to increase time available for research.

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
