Instructor/Assistant Instructor (Teachers)
SIUC Head Start

Title of Position/Rank:  Instructor/Assistant Instructor (Teachers). The appointment will be at the rank of assistant instructor with a bachelor's degree and at the rank of instructor with a master's degree.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a Bachelor's degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education and six (6) or more courses in early childhood education and/or child development is required. Applicants with Bachelor's in ECE or experience in teaching preschool children preferred. Ability to maintain a program of developmentally appropriate instruction and physical management and care for children ages three to five years is required.

This is a security-sensitive position. Before any offer of employment is made, the University will conduct a pre-employment background investigation, which includes a criminal background check.

Duties: Responsibilities include assisting the supervising teacher in maintaining a program of developmentally appropriate instruction for three to five year old children in Head Start classrooms in Jackson and Williamson counties.
