Instructor/Assistant Instructor (Supervising Teacher)
SIUC Head Start

Title of Position/Rank: Instructor/Assistant Instructor (Supervising Teacher). The appointment will be at the rank of assistant instructor with a bachelor's degree and at the rank of instructor with a master's degree.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) with experience in teaching preschool children or a Bachelor's degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education with two years paid experience in teaching preschool children and six (6) or more courses in early childhood education and/or child development is required. 04 Certification preferred. Ability to maintain a program of developmentally appropriate instruction and physical management and care for children ages three to five years is required.

This is a security-sensitive position. Before any offer of employment is made, the University will conduct a pre-employment background investigation, which includes a criminal background check.

Duties: Participate in the planning and implementation of a program of instruction of developmentally appropriate activities for Head Start. Responsibilities include home visits, paperwork, screenings, assessments and referrals in Head Start classrooms in Jackson and Williamson counties.
