POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant Professor (Radiologic Sciences)
School of Allied Health

Position:  The College of Applied Sciences and Arts (ASA) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for an anticipated Assistant Professor position within ASA's School of Allied Health baccalaureate program in Radiologic Sciences beginning August 16, 2008, or until acceptable applicant(s) are found. This is a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position.

Required Qualifications:  Registered Radiologic Technologist (in Radiography) with at least five years of clinical radiography work experience. The Assistant Professor position requires at least a Master's degree, current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) licensure, and at least three years of radiography teaching experience. The qualified applicant must be able to lift positioning phantoms, maintain automatic X-ray film processing equipment, and drive to distant clinical sites. The potential for research/scholarly activity should be demonstrated.

Preferred Qualifications:  Doctoral Degree in a related field. Registries in one or more of the following:  Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Quality Assurance, Computed Tomography, Mammography, Cardiovascular-Interventional Imaging. Supervisory experience with radiography students.

Responsibilities: To provide direct classroom/laboratory/clinical instruction and indirect teaching, such as student advisement, recruitment, retention, and assessment for the program in Radiologic Sciences; to engage in research and scholarly activities; to engage in professional service which will continue to contribute to the profession and personal academic growth; to participate in committee involvement at the Program, School, College, and University levels; to engage in other duties as determined by the Director of the School of Allied Health.
