The Adult Education program at EDC offers free General Education Development (GED) preparation courses that are individualized to meet your individual learning needs.  The curriculum is presented in a variety of ways to accommodate those with special learning needs.  Instruction is also individualized, providing students with one-on-one instruction, guidance, and practice.

Classes are supplemented with state of the art computers, and students have access to GED practice software and GED-i  Online.  Instructors will assess your learning needs and create a learning environment that will best suit your learning style.

  • GED Test Taking Preparation,
  • Individualized Instruction,
  • Reading,
  • Mathematics,
  • Social Studies,
  • Science, and
  • Writing.

Class Schedule:

  • Monday thru Thursday 9 am - 12 pm
  • Tuesday and Thursday 1 pm - 3 pm

Testing Registration and Locations:

Note:In order to take the GED test, you must register at the Office of Superintendent of Schools located in the county in which you reside.  The locations are provided below:

  • Jackson County- Jackson County Courthouse, Murphysboro
  • Williamson County - Williamson County Courthouse, Marion
  • Perry County - Perry County Courthouse, Pickneyville
  • Franklin County - Franklin County Courthouse, Benton

Note: Adult Ed does not administer the GED test.

  • SIU Carbondale - 1st Saturday of each month
  • John A. Logan CC - 3rd Saturday of each month
