Adult Basic
Education (ABE)
The ABE
program offered through Adult Education at EDC is designed to provide
reading, writing, and math instruction for students in need of
specialized training, disadvantaged students, and students with
disabilities. Anyone from 17 years old and up is welcome to
attend. Individualized and one-on-one study is based on the needs
and goals of the student and determined by pre-tests, vocational
/ skills assessment, and personal interviews.
Admissions criteria for ABE, GED, and ESL Classes are as follows:
- individuals must be 16 years of age or older,
- not be currently enrolled in a public high school or postsecondary institution,
- be in need of the GED,
- be in need of up-grading basic education for the purpose of attaining or retaining employment, or

Objectives / Services Provided:
- Enhance academic skills,
- Meet the requirements for post-secondary training,
- Accommodate a variety of special learning styles,
- Hands-on activities and instruction,
- Positive feedback provided,
- Learn at your own pace,
- Individuals set their own schedules, and to
- Obtain a productive and independent life.

- Emotional Development
- Keyboarding / Typing Skills
Class Schedule:
- Monday and Thurssday 9 am - 12 pm and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
