Creating a Connection to Your Website in Dreamweaver
- Choose Site from the menus at the top of the screen.
- Choose New Site.
- If the Basic tab at the top is selected change the selection to Advanced.
- Name your site anything you want in the Site Name box.
- Click the folder icon to the right of the Local root folder field and browse to the folder where you want your website files to be stored on your computer. You can create this folder yourself in a place that is convenient for you, such as your Documents folder or your Desktop folder.

- Next, Select the Remote Info category on the left. Choose FTP as the Access type.
- Fill in the connection information that was given to you by your server administrator.
- Make sure the check box titled “Enable file check in and check out” is checked. In the fields named Check out name and email address enter your information.
- Click the Test button to test your connection. If Dreamweaver did not successfully connect to your site check your settings and try again. If this does not work contact your server administrator to find out if any settings have been edited/added that would affect your connectivity.

- When you have tested your site and connected to Dreamweaver successfully click the OK button to finish creating a new site connection.
