Requesting Web Hosting

  1. Fill out a Memo of Understanding (MOU): www.siuc.edu/webservices/web/memo.php

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - A memorandum of understanding (MOU or MoU) is a document describing a bilateral or multilateral agreement between parties. It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action. It most often is used in cases where parties either do not imply a legal commitment or in situations where the parties cannot create a legally enforceable agreement.

Once this is filled out, print it and mail (MC 6819) or fax (618-453-1445) it to Web Services. The Site Owner and Web Designate are the only two people that can request or change the password.

  1. Web Services will create the new web account and notify either the account owner or web designate by phone. A temporary home page will be placed on your site.
  2. Both the account owner and the web designate will be subscribed to the web server list-serv.  This is an email account that will notify all users of any web server updates, planned outages, maintenance, etc.
  3. Currently, users are able to connect to their web account by web editor or FTP client:

Host: www.siuc.edu
Username: the account name
Password: can be retrieved from the MOU
Directory: /httpdocs/   **note: all files MUST be placed inside this directory

For those that have "tilda accounts" leave the Directory blank.

  1. Websites must meet all SIUC requirements policies, state and federal laws which include copyright.
