PRODUCTION SPECIFICATIONS FOR SIU ARENA
LOAD-IN ACCESS
There is no loading dock and all items need to be either ramped or fork lifted down to ground level.
HOSPITALITY
There are two large dressing room facilities that can be converted into four (4) separate dressing rooms with the use of a built-in partition. All dressing rooms have shower and restroom facilities; hot and cold running water; are heated/air-conditioned as is required; outfitted with full-length mirrors and carpet. These rooms can be set up with tables and chairs; however, home furnishings can be provided at the request and expense of the artist. Additional phone lines can be added at the request and expense of the artist. Any one of the phone lines can be designated as a data line. There is, also, a limited amount of pipe and drape.
There are two additional, smaller, dressing rooms that can accommodate one to two artists or production managers (rooms 21 and 23). These rooms have a shower, toilet and mirror.
A third (12 x 12’) room serves as a production center with tables, chairs, and the four telephone lines listed above. These phone lines can be divided, however, between the dressing rooms. A phone line can be designated as a fax line if need be.
There is no in-house catering. Artists without a tour caterer can make arrangements with the building to secure catering services. There are three concession stands (two in the Lobby and one located on the upper concourse).
The SIU Arena has a 6-1/2’ Baldwin Baby Grand. The University has a member of the School of Music on retainer to provide piano tuning. We can provide two runners. . . at your cost. In-house pipe and drape can be used to provide privacy to and from stage. Passenger Vans can be procured by the Venue at the expense of user.
STAGING
Staging is a portable stage system manufactured by Stage Right Inc. It is adjustable from 4’–6’ in height and can be built in any dimension up to 96’ x 48’ as long as the dimensions are multiples of the 4’x 8’ panel system. This stage product can hold up to 125 lbs. per square foot. Each panel is a stress skin design, which means that it will not accept lag screws.
There is 64’ of barricade available for the front of the stage. 8’ sections of bike rack barricade are also available. Various mix risers and stage wings and risers are possible within the limits of the modules in inventory.
FOLLOW SPOTS
There are 4 Strong Super Trooper spotlights on permanent platforms just above the top row of seats at the South end of the Arena at an elevation of 55’ above the arena floor.
FIRE REGULATIONS
Currently no pyrotechnics are allowed in the facility.
FORK LIFTS
There are two Hyster forktrucks available upon request. We have one 6500 lb lift and one 3500 lb lift. Both forklifts have 15’ reach.
Rigging
The building is a true dome and, therefore, is rigged with a bucket truck. From back from stage to beam is 55’ and from front of stage to beam is 70’. The Arena floor measures 100’ x 200’.
Arena Power
(1) 600 amp; (2) 400 amp; (2) 100 amp
There is shore power for buses and can be connected by the Arena Electrician. There are no in-house laundry facilities; however, we have the capability to hook-up artists’ laundry equipment if need be.
SIU Arena loading area
The venue load-in door is located on the north-side of Arena. Load-in door measures 11’ high and there is no load-in ramp. From load-in door to the stage is 40’. The stage is a Stage-Right stage. The building has bicycle barricade that can be used at the mix location and front of stage barricade if needed.
For best directions to loading area call Seth Kohlhaas, Production Manager, at (618)-453-7035 or e-mail at sethk@siu.edu.
