Living on campus in one of our residence
halls connects you to the life of the
University. The residence halls are a close-knit, affordable and
supportive place
to live and work that put you at the center
of everything: classes and labs, the
library, recreational
facilities, volunteer
opportunities and more.
Our studies have
found that students living on campus perform better
academically.
- Professors are more readily available
for your questions or to assist you
- You
have easier access to the resources you need
- You
are closer to the public
events – plays,
movies, SIU athletics, speakers and concerts, to
name a few
- You’ll
live in close proximity to friends, peers and colleagues
who are all having similar experiences
- Together,
you’ll create a campus community of your own

- The SOAR program is designed to assist new students and
their families with their transition to SIUC life
