Construction Industry Career Path

The construction industry is changing – fast! A strong back and a shovel aren't enough anymore. The increasing complexity of equipment, processes, and regulations requires a well-trained workforce.

Demand is growing in the construction industry for employees with management, safety, and training. LIUNA Midwest Region has partnered with Southern Illinois University Carbondale to offer four-year degrees to its members to prepare them to meet that demand. Bachelor of Science degrees are now being offered in the following three disciplines:

• Technical Resource Management
• Industrial Technology
• Workforce Education and Development

Adding one of these degrees to your training and experience prepares you for a construction industry career path that can increase your opportunities and improve your life and your union.

Programs

The three degree programs offered through SIUC are delivered to union members through a combination of methods including on-campus, off-campus, weekend, and evening classes. Credit for current and past experience may help fulfill some requirements.
