Inspiring Women Scholarships

The Margaret H. Steele Memorial Scholarship

The Inspiring Women scholarship, funded by the Margaret H. Steele Memorial Scholarship Endowment,will award $2,000 for the academic year to a transfer student who is a community college graduate and enrolled as an elementary education major. Students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 = A) to be eligible to apply. The scholarship is renewable for one year as long as the recipient maintains full-time enrollment, a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 = A) and demonstrates University and/or community involvement.

The Inspiring Women Scholarship Fund

Money raised from the Inspiring Women Galas has enabled the Inspiring Women Board of Directors to establish the Inspiring Women Scholarship Fund. This Fund supports scholarships awarded to undergraduate students attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Scholarships will be awarded to entering freshmen students with an ACT composite score of at least 24, a high school rank in the top 25% of their class, and demonstrated involvement in leadership/extracurricular activities during their high school years. The scholarships are renewable for one year as long as the recipient maintains full-time enrollment, a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 = A), and University and/or community involvement in leadership/extracurricular activities.

Our Mothers Scholarship

One scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman student with an ACT composite score of at least 24, a high school rank in the top 25% of their class, and demonstrated involvement in leadership/extracurricular activities during their high school years. The scholarship will be awarded for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters.
