As the largest employer south of Springfield, SIUC has a
long-standing commitment to contributing to the region’s
economic development. The University will take that effort
to a new level with construction on the first new building
in the research park, located on the south side of campus.
Construction, set to begin in 2005, will take between nine
and 15 months. The park, designed to attract high-tech
and knowledge-based companies, is home to the Dunn-Richmond
Economic Development Center, which houses a variety of
programs, including the Small Business Incubator, Southern
Illinois Entrepreneurship Center, Illinois Manufacturing
Extension Center, SouthernTECH and the Center for Rural
Health and Social Service Development.
