Agricultural Sciences

Our college is home to some of the nation's most productive scientists. Ongoing research addresses a broad range of subjects including:

Many of these activities make use of the college's farm complex that incorporates production and research centers for beef, dairy, swine, and horses along with two agronomy centers, a horticulture center, orchards, vineyards, a tree improvement center and two research greenhouse centers. Applied Sciences & Arts

Belle Woodward teaches an information technologies course.  

The college's commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service contributes to its outstanding reputation and the market demand for its graduates. The college has one of the largest enrollments – nearly 3,000 – of Southern Illinois University Carbondale's colleges.

The college, which has focused on preparing students for challenging professional careers since its founding in 1951, is comprised of four schools: Allied Health, Architecture, Information Systems and Applied Technologies, and Transportation. More...

The Child Development Lab gives Early Child Education majors teaching experience.The College of Education and Human Services is committed to quality teaching and research. Through classroom and field work, faculty and staff prepare human services professionals, teachers and education leaders. Each year, the college places 400 studentteachers in classrooms throughout Southern Illinois.

Liberal Arts

Mass Communication & Media Arts

Students get hands on experience in the multimedia labs.Our faculty provides students with a solid foundation of media history while leading the way in traditional and emerging fields. Students learn how various platforms – print, cinema, electronic, broadcast and photographic – stand alone. And they discover how those areas are converging and forming a new media environment. Science

Students work with faculty on projects like this smart glass seen with UV lights.At SIUC, our scientists delve deeper every day, exploring the mysteries of the biological, chemical, mathematical and physical characteristics of our world and the universe.

We vigorously encourage our students to begin working early with faculty scientists and to present their research projects and papers. Students travel to the polar ice caps, some to Central American or Amazonian rain forests. Others turn their attentions inward, exploring nanotechnology, numbers theory, computer technology or the human body. More...
