Our College

The College of Education and Human Services is committed to quality teaching and research. Each year, the college places 400 student teachers in classrooms throughout Southern Illinois.

Students also prepare for careers as athletics trainers, therapeutic recreation specialists, speech pathologists and social workers, to name just a few of our majors. Each year, hundreds of professionals also select the college for graduate study at either the master’s or doctoral level.

Research and service projects in the college span a broad spectrum, ranging from autisum disorders to An Adventure of the American Mind. In-service and pre-service classroom teachers and college teacher education faculty access, use and produce curriculum utilizing the online collections of the Library of Congress.
