History of the Club
The Callsign
The club callsign, W9UIH was originally issued to the SIUC
chapter of the Synton fraternity when the club was organized in the 1930s.
The club operated with the callsign WA9FGX for a period in the late
1970s-early 1980s. Station Trustee
and advisor Mike Hoshiko, W9CJW worked
to recover the original callsign in the 1980s.
Today, the club retains its historic call thanks to Mike’s efforts.
