University Bands
Andrew, "Tucker," Director of Athletic Bands, Assistant Director of Bands, and teaches tuba and euphonium at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He has worked with bands in Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Florida and Kentucky. He was on the staff at The Colony High School in The Colony, Texas. While working on his doctorate, he helped out with several local band programs in Indiana.
Tucker has been an active clinician and guest conductor for schools in Illinois, Florida, Indiana and Texas. He has worked with several drum corps and is currently the Brass Caption Head with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from Dubuque, IA. In addition to these experiences, he has arranged music for marching bands at the university and high school level. He was on the marching band staff at Indiana University, University of Kansas, and University of North Texas.
He has performed as a soloist internationally and has given masterclasses in Canada, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Greece. He performs frequently as a soloist for such groups as state and regional honor bands, university bands, and high school and middle school bands.
Tucker has performed and worked with some of the finest musicians and enjoys playing in traditional style brass bands. He was a member of the Chicago Brass Band and performed at the World Music Fest in the Netherlands and Great American Brass Band Festival.
He graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy, then did undergraduate work at the University of Kansas, and earned his Bachelor's degree at the University of North Texas. At Indiana University, he completed his Master's degree in Tuba Performance with a minor in Wind Conducting. He is currently pursuing his doctorate at Indiana University in Brass Pedagogy with minors in Music Education and Wind Conducting.
