SIUC Logo
Use
The SIUC logo should appear on all forms of media produced by or for the University. Horizontal (top left) and vertical versions (top right) of the logo have been developed to offer design flexibility. The preferred version is the horizontal design.
Placement
Place the SIUC logo on the front of all SIUC print materials. If placement on the front is not possible, the logo can be placed on the back cover; however, the front cover must be clearly and prominently marked with text that reads Southern Illinois University Carbondale. If the imprint area of your media is limiting and the quality of the SIUC logo will suffer, please spell out the full name of the University (no hyphens or dashes).
Color
The official logo color is Pantone Matching System (PMS) 209 (maroon) and black for all printed items. The logo may also appear as all black and as all white (when placed on a solid or dark background). Metallic versions are also approved for imprints on specialty items such as leather portfolios, folders, jewelry, etc.

SIUC name drop logo format

This format should be used for all embroidery applications and may be used on promotional items and screen printing applications. Any member of the campus community may use the SIUC name drop format.
Proportion/sizing
[Top]
When a logo is reduced or enlarged, it must be treated as one unit so that all elements are resized proportionately. The minimum size of the logo is determined by the size of the graphic. The clock tower graphic must be at least 1/2 inch from the left to the right exterior sides of the window.
Fonts
Some suggested font families for use in University publications are: (Serif) Palatino, Adobe Garamond and (Sans Serif) Universe, Futura.
Registered trademark
The “TM” symbol should always be used on the logo when an item is being sold at retail.

Altering
The SIUC logo should not be changed into italic, bold or created with alternative type faces. This logo is a registered trademark and may not be altered. Do not attempt to recreate, separate, scan or alter this logo in any way.
Distorting
Layouts/designs should leave space to incorporate the logo at the proper proportion. Logos should not be pulled, stretched, squeezed, condensed or otherwise altered to fit a particular space.
Appearances
The SIUC logo should not be encompassed in any shape, other design or embellished in any way. It must appear unobstructed to maintain visual clarity and identity and may not be rotated. Additional colors or blended colors, special effects and/or drop shadows should not be applied to the logo.
Screening
Logos should not be screened or lightened. There should be a high degree of contrast between the logo and its background.
Clear space
[Top]
To clearly present the SIUC logo without competition from other elements, it is important that enough space is given around the perimeter. Use clear space equal to 1/2 the height of the clock tower graphic. This method of measurement will ensure the proper clear space.
