Job Description:  A postdoctoral position is available immediately at the department of plant, soil and agricultural systems at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The successful candidate will use molecular techniques to investigate the genetic and pathogenic diversity amongst isolates of soybean pathogens that cause diseases such as charcoal rot, frogeye leaf spot and sudden death syndrome.  Position responsibilities include designing and conducting independent research, analyzing data, and communicating results through scientific presentations and peer-reviewed publications. The candidate is expected to be involved in the training of graduate and undergraduate students and to assist in the preparation and submission of grant applications.

Job Requirements:  A recent Ph.D. in plant pathology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a closely related field is required. A strong background in molecular biology is highly desirable. The applicant should be highly motivated with a track record of peer-reviewed publications.

Pay Scale:  Based on experience.
